Our thinking programs are based, in part on Dr. Edward de Bono's CoRT Model for Teaching Thinking.
Along with creative thinking and writing, and technical drawing and designing, our programs teach forty identified thinking skills derived from the CoRT Model, below. CoRT is an acronym for the Cognitive Research Trust. This trust was a diverse think tank in England that tackled the task of identifying what kinds of thinking skills people need to be successful in life. A multi-subject / multi-grade American teacher (Sydney Tyler-Parker), who was teaching in England at the time, adapted the CoRT critical thinking skills for her students. The lesson plans she developed based on the model, became an important part of the Just Think and Stretch Think programs.
The thinking skills become progressively more difficult; the easiest skill is "Plus, minus and interesting", and the hardest is "Evaluation". Many skills build on knowledge from earlier ones, so it's best to go in order, if possible. **Please note: The Stretch Thinks were designed so older children could start from the beginning of the model, using lesson plans that are at their levels of difficulty.
